Masters Level Qualification

Teaching and Assessing Learners with Specific Learning Difficulties (Dyslexia).

This is a two-year course open to Teachers and Teaching Assistants with an undergraduate degree & at least two years’ experience teaching / supporting learners of school age. If you have already gained Accredited Teacher Status (ATS) or Accredited Practitioner Status (ATS) through another course, you may be eligible to continue your study towards AMBDA by joining us in Year 2.

Year 1: ATS/APS Identifying and teaching learners with specific learning difficulties

Post Graduate Certificate
60 M credits

Leading to Approved Teacher Status/ Approved Practitioner Status with the British Dyslexia Association.

Qualification will enable the holder to develop their knowledge of dyslexia and literacy difficulties, carry out informal identification of learners with SpLD and design and deliver a bespoke teaching programme to meet specific individual needs up to and including 18 years of age.

Year 2: AMBDA  Specialist teaching and assessment of learners with specific learning difficulties

Post Graduate Diploma
+60 (120 total) M credits

Leading to Associate Membership of the British Dyslexia Association.

Qualification will enable the holder to learn about specialist standardised testing, carry out specialist diagnostic assessments and deliver specialist teaching programmes to learners up to and including 18 years of age. Successful completion of the course will enable you to apply for AMBDA and APC which will enable you to diagnosis pupils with dyslexia and carry our exam access arrangements.
