Holiday activities and food programme
Children and young people who receive benefit related free school meals will be able to access free activities and food provision over the Christmas holiday 2021.
Winter 2021 offer
Leicester City Council, with funding from the Department for Education, are working with local schools, community organisations and local partners to bring this exciting offer to you.
There are two different types of programmes to choose from, these are:
- Four activity days including food onsite
Providers who are offering four days of activities at a venue with a nutritious meal available each day. Some providers have kindly extended their offer to hold up to six days over the holiday period. - Activity day and food hamper
Providers who are offering less than four days of activities will supplement their offer with food hampers for the children to take home.
Note: Children can access only one programme over the winter holiday period. When you register, it is for all the days offered by the provider.
What are the options?
Take part in a range of fun activities offered by over 40 providers. Activities include sports, arts, dancing, ice-skating and much more.
Who is this for?
The offer is only available to children and young people who:
- live in Leicester City
- are aged between 4 to 16 and in full-time education
- are receiving benefits related free school meals
How to register?
Families who live in Leicester can register for a place through the programme provider information page.
The council will check to see if your child / children:
- is currently receiving benefits related free school meals
- is within the programme age range (see provider's information page)
- has not already been allocated another programme place within the city
Registration closes on Friday 3 December 2021

If you make an application, you must wait for the response before applying for a programme place. There is no guarantee applications will be processed before the registration closing date.
